Parents Newsletter 5th Feb 2021

5th Feb 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians

We hope that this letter finds you well and that you and your families are keeping safe. We want to commend you all again on your participation and engagement with remote learning. We know that it is becoming harder to stay motivated in these trying times and would like to congratulate you on all the efforts you have made so far. We are nearly at the end of this term so keep it up for another week.

Please keep an eye on Compass for updates. You might see a “concern note” on your student’s profile. This is a way for teachers to communicate with you if they have any concerns, it is important to note that this is not a discipline issue but a way for teachers to communicate with you. You might have noticed a -1 beside this entry, this is a technical thing to enable the school to send out an email to you after a student receives 3 entries from their teachers.

The school is waiting for clarity from the Department of Education and Skills on the Leaving Certificate and the reopening of schools before a decision is made on the running of the Mock exams for Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate.

If you get the time, please look at the parent's guide to remote learning which was sent to you during the week on helpful tips to make remote learning easier for both you and your child.

These are the reminders that have been sent to students this week:

Just a few reminders:

  • Please keep to your timetables - If you do not have a live class. Work will have been set for you and you should do this work in the hour set for the class.
  • If you cannot attend a class or submit work, please let the teacher know.
  • If you are coming on to a class using someone else’s device, please let the teacher know beforehand.
  • If you feel overwhelmed or are getting too much work in a subject, please let the teachers know politely- We can only do something about things if we know about them.

The MCS PE department has put out a Wellbeing Challenge for all students up on their PE pages. We are asking all members of the school community (students, teachers, PARENTS and families) to take part in this Challenge and to make use of the “extra stretch” in the evening to run, walk or jog as part of this challenge. Details of this can be found in the attachments below. The LCA and Meitheal groups have organised a bake off this week too. Please encourage your children to get involved and to get out and about.

Please lead by example and get involved.

Don’t forget also the links to classes below.

  • Meditation Samples from Ms Anne Moore

Attaching here some nice free meditation recordings from thelotusloft.ie

We would like to remind you if there are any issues that the school can help you with please do not hesitate to contact us.

Enjoy the weekend,

Kind regards,
