Volleyball & Spikeball in MCS

Volleyball in MCS has gone from strength to strength with the numbers participating, growing, from year to year, since opening in 2009.

Students in MCS have the opportunity to play Spikeball in 1st year and Volleyball from 2nd year to 6th year.

Spikeball is an initiative developed by the Volleyball Association of Ireland to aid in introducing Volleyball to students. It is an adapted 4-player v 4-player volleyball game. Spikeball Volleyball is a fun and rewarding Volleyball experience. The objective of these adaptations is to encourage learning, promote physical activity, and increase the fun for the participants.

MCS girls, boys and mixed Spikeball teams compete annually in Laois, Regional and National blitz days.

MCS Volleyball teams compete in 2nd year/ Junior Championships, u16/ Cadet Championships and Senior Championships.

MCS has had many successes in recent years at regional and national level. In 2016/ 2017 our Junior Girls were All-Ireland Shield Runners Up. In 2018/ 2019, MCS, were All-Ireland Junior Boys ‘A’ Cup and ‘B’ Shield Runners Up. All three teams having fought valiantly in very close finals.

MCS volleyball teams are competing at the highest levels in each of their respective competitions and the sport continues to develop and prosper from year to year.
